June 15, 2004

RIFD software maker IBSS and wearable computer manufacturer Xybernaut have announced they have been awarded a GSA Schedule listing by the General Services Administration (GSA) for radio-frequency identification (RFID) technologies. The listing streamlines US government (military, federal and state/local) purchases of integrated RFID and mobile/wearable computing solutions.

"RFID tagging is a vital new technology because items that have been tagged or embedded with RFID technologies can be tracked automatically through the supply chain with less human intervention, minimizing time involved in identification processes," stated Steven A. Newman, president and COO of Xybernaut. "Combined with wearable computing, RFID has the potential to provide a killer applications across all industries."
