PeopleSoft Launches RFID Technology

February 24, 2004

Yahoo! News: PeopleSoft Launches RFID Technology:

Peoplesoft Inc. on Monday launched technology that supports the use of radio-frequency identification tags within manufacturers' supply chains.

The business software maker showcased its RFID technology for its Enterprise and EnterpriseOne product families at the National Manufacturing Week 2004 conference in Chicago.

The PeopleSoft press release can be found here, and it's clear several of Peoplesoft's customers are suppliers to giants like WalMart and Department of Defense, both of which have requested RFID tagged goods for their shipments starting soon:
Addressing the Wal-Mart and the Department of Defense mandates, PeopleSoft's RFID solutions create identification tags that are attached to outbound shipments. The tags can include product, place, time, and transaction data, allowing companies receiving shipments to more efficiently route, track and distribute materials. PeopleSoft RFID enables suppliers to meet their customers' RFID requirements as dictated for each ship-to location.
