RFID Cost Too High For Airlines

You may not find RFID at the airport anytime soon. Because of its cost, RFID still has not made the jump to the airlines. While seen as the answer to the problem of lost luggage, the RFID price tag is still too great. However, innovators such as Globalbagtag.com might solve the problem. Here, tags are used that are traced though the internet. Supply Chain Review reports:
The RFID chips were to be attached to the bag at check in but the high cost of implementing the system has discouraged all but a handful of airports from installing the detectors and readers needed for the system to function.
